Calgwin Origins: Godi
Sergeant Adiba discovers a mysterious artefact during a mission and wakes in the unknown world of Calgwin.
Calgwin Origins: Godi was an opportunity to return to an earlier entry point and rebuild it as a more deliberate invitation into Calgwin.
The situation.
Godi follows Sergeant Adiba, whose discovery of a glowing artefact during a military operation lands her in an unfamiliar forest in Calgwin. The displacement premise offers a newcomer’s perspective on a world that already had years of history behind it.
Godi is a reimagined edition of Land of Calgwin: Origin-A, giving me a chance to revisit an older entry point with more deliberate storytelling and production choices.
What I did.
I led creative direction, design, development, writing, and release production through W15I, working with the wider team on the finished title.
I revisited the earlier origin premise to make its world, protagonist, and narrative turn more cohesive for a new release.
From the game.
Two gameplay captures pulled from the Calgwin Origins: Godi itch.io page.

Reframe the origin story
Used Adiba’s military context and contact with the artefact to give the journey into Calgwin a clear, human starting point.
Reimagine rather than overwrite
Carried forward Origin-A’s premise while releasing Godi as a distinct, publicly named edition.
Ship a short RPG Maker chapter
Produced Windows and macOS downloadable builds for a concise story-driven RPG release.
What happened.
Godi released on 27 December 2023 for Windows and macOS.
It gave Origin-A's original displacement premise a new protagonist, a clearer presentation, and a finished reimagined release.
What I learned.
A remake needs a point of view
Returning to old work is useful when the new version clarifies what the original was trying to let players feel.
Newcomers need a human doorway
Adiba’s disorientation gives players permission to discover a long-running world alongside the protagonist.
Continuity should preserve provenance
Calling out Origin-A in the announcement keeps the older work visible instead of presenting the newer release as if it emerged from nowhere.
